The Opportunity: We are actively seeking dynamic and diverse team member to join us in the role of Institutional Giving Officer in Wixom, MI, in a hybrid work structure. The Institutional Giving Officer plays an important revenue-driving role as an individual contributor, responsible for planning and implementing fundraising activities to generate foundation and corporate funding partnerships for the organization. Specifically, this role will cultivate new relationships through a variety of methods including public visibility, lead generation and sales presentations. Philanthropic relationship experience, sales acumen, strategy, planning, and analytical skills are critical to performance success in this role. This role will proactively build strategic and dynamic funding relationships that aim to advance the programs and mission of Detroit PBS and 90.9 WRCJ while supporting the goals of the funding organization.
Essential Functions:
• Pursue, develop and engage dynamic institutional, philanthropic partnerships with new organizations, advancing the programs and goals of Detroit PBS and 90.9 WRCJ.
• Build and expand pipeline of new funders, leveraging network of supporters including Board of Trustees, Community Advisory Panel, industry partners, institutional relationships, as well as networking and lead generation efforts.
• Implementing proactive solicitation strategy and evolving pipeline based on moves management principles and funding organization calendars.
• Proactive development of new philanthropic opportunities cross-functionally with the operations, strategic and development teams.
• Implement Moves Management cycle, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of all prospects in portfolio while ensuring the engagement of key internal stakeholders, proposal and presentation development, and transition to grants management and operations teams once partnership is secured.
• Provide regular status reports and revenue projections to leadership team, tracking activity through CRM and other tools as assigned.
• Acting as an external ambassador for the organization, staying current with programmatic priorities and engagement opportunities that can bring prospects closer to the organization’s work.
Skills:
• Track record of meeting and exceeding large revenue goals.
• Have an entrepreneurial spirit and focus.
• Be able to proactively research, identify, create, and close new business opportunities.
• Be able to effectively leverage qualified leads, as well as their own network, to create unique partnership opportunities with senior executives and leading foundations.
• Have experience and expertise in developing comprehensive partnership proposals.
• Be able to effectively manage a sales process and create financial forecasting/reporting of key performance metrics.
• Be an independent, self-starter who has a history of working with little direction and turning conceptual direction into executed strategies.
Qualifications:
• 5-7 years of related experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience in non-profit fundraising.
• Proven track record in creating and managing a robust sales/partnership pipeline.
Physical Demands: Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed to attend station and community events, pledge nights, as well as donor breakfasts, dinners, etc.
Work Environment: Individual is exposed to a remote office setting with computer equipment as well as meeting in 1:1 setting.
